Monday - off to school we all go
First Day of school - first trip of this school year. I don’t know what was worst - being all torn up and trying to be tough or watching my little boys eyes well up with tears as we left him at school all alone. Well not alone - but with out us. I’m sure by now he has a friend and doesn’t remember we exist.
It was a hard day for the wife - little girl in middle school [jr high] and little boy starting school - driving her to school was tough - she’s holding back the tears and I’m trying to be strong. Imagine if we both would have broken down.....
Here I am - alone at home thinking of when I have to pick him up. Who knew I would miss him so much. Man that kid has me all messed up.

I’d be happy to share some more details about homeschooling. If you are seriously considering homeschool, the first thing you need to do is find out the legal requirements of the state you live in. Beyond that, I would suggest you find a local homeschool group and talk to other moms in your area to see what they do. I can’t imagine trying to homeschool without a group of like-minded moms. It really makes a huge difference and it provides opportunities for social interaction for the kids.
As far as curriculum goes, I used ABEKA K4 for preschool with my first two. We were all a little bored with it, so I’m planning to try KUMON with the little one when he is old enough. A friend of mine uses that one and loves it. She is linked as “little sanctuary” on my blog. There is a LOT more homeschool information on her blog. For the older kids we use a combination of Bob Jones, Apologia, and Saxon. If you go to this website you can read tons of information about each of the different curriculums. There are hundreds to choose from, many providing you with exact teaching instructions and lesson plans. Saxon Math, for example, tells you word-for-word what do say to the child during the lesson. They really have done all the work for you. Others are more free-style, allowing you the freedom to teach at your own pace and with your own methods.
