Kids, more kids and no time

Image
Kids, more kids and no time. It’s been a while since my last post. Not because my life is boring but because it’s so consumed with the things that have to be done. School started so last more running around - books, taking them to school, homework, friends coming over to visit more darn home work. If that’s not enough - my wife decides to put my five year old son in flag football. Oh geez…. Look I think it’s great that he is getting involved, has a place outside of school to rough house and make friends. The practices are good for his health it’s just so darn time consuming and some of those sports mom and dad are nuts. Really - whackos, just plain whack jobs. The first day I was able to leave work early to go to one of my sons practices - proved to me that this was going to be a waste of my time. First I sat at the side of the field watching the kids play and then practice… I love my son, but I could have been doing something more productive. Then I had a mom and dad sitting next to m

Ok so it's NOT WALT DISNEY WORLD -but it's Fair ???

Image
Ok, it's not Walt Disney World - but it's the Fair ? Yep, the county fair - it's not the big fancy walt disney or magic Kingdom kind of outing I want to go to - but the kids wanted to go to the fair. The fair, the Carney, the traveling Gypsies - or Circus [ what ever ]. All I know is they bugged me and bugged me that I just had to go. My duaghter already made plans to meet her friends there. My wife insisted we meet her friend there [ Hey Betsy - hope you had fun ] - heck if it wasn't already expensive enough - my kids wanted to invite another friend and have me pay [ What do I look like - don't answer that ]. But I do have to say I had a blast. Between my sons excitement and scare the park was worth the over price $17 dollar wrist band to go on the rides and I wont mention the fact that I and our friends son got sort of addicted to one of those carnival chance games. All so we could we could win a toy gun for my son - too bad it turn out to be a cigeret lighter ..

Who wants to Buy two kids - cheap !!!!

Image
Oh, I must be stupid.... I thought that the easiest thing to do with two children who fought over the Ds game was - to simply buy my son his own game. After all - then they would each have thier own game and the fighting would stop. No, not so. Now they fight about the DS consoles and the games. First my duaghter wanted to see [ see means use his blue boyish game] which my son didn't want to do becuase blue is for boys only [ considering he has been playing her pink girlish game for months. Now they spend thier time fighting over the games - dinner dash, indiana jones, sims kingdom and how my son [ who granted is not proficient in setting games up ] keeps erasing his sisters memory [ it may be on purpose who knows....] All this fighting and they each have thier own DS game - wow, that $130 dollars on my sons own DS that was suppose to make life easier - only made it worse. Maybe I could make my money back - is anyone interesting in buying two slightly used children. Thier great ki

The Fear and Joy of being a Dad ?

I've been working on teaching my four year old son how to ride his bike with out the training wheels. Ofcourse his Mom didn't help by putting the training wheels back on the bike - talk about a giant step backwards. This last week I had some time to spend with him and I went thru the process of teaching him from scratch - again..... After I built up his confidence - in that I wouldn't let him fall - I had one single thought in my mind... God I hope he doesn't crash or hit the ground hard ???? I couldn't help but picture him going down in a blaze of glory - blaming me for not stopping him from falling... Maybe it had to do with the fact that I made the same promise to my duaghter a few years back and I couldn't keep it.. She didn't trust me for a while when it came to the bike... Or maybe it was becuase I was holding a video camera - and hey, it would make a good you tube video... if he falls that is [ people love to see others suffer - sick world..] But all

Protecting the universe one Soldier at a time

Image
Here I am trying to spend some quality time with my son before I have to go to work and all he wants to do is play halo. It's sad really - because I'm the one who got him hooked on playing halo. But I guess spending some time with him killing aliens and defending the universe from a horde of evil Aliens is better than not spending time with him at all. The odd thing is he takes his command so seriously - I mean he is only four years old and he is concerned about the men that follow him in the game. He has figured out that they can die and that he can do something to save and protect them. He just insist on making sure his fellow soldiers are doing good. He doesn't want to go to the next level unless he can protect his fellow men [ and women - they have female characters in the game]. The odd thing is, when he plays as the alien, he doesn't care who dies - his fellow alien horde could drop by the thousands and he lets them - but let one of his fellow human being soldiers

Video Games just as bad as Drugs ....

Image
I hear people talk about how video games are a bad influence on our children. And I am starting to wonder if they are right. I think my 4 year old son has a problem - atleast with video games. He woke up this morning and asked me one thing - “Can I play now?” Looking at this photo - I'm wondering if he wasn't sleep walking - boy does this kid have it bad for video games.

Games are controling my Son...

Image
By now most of you should already know that my 4 year old son is a wee bit adicted to playing video games. he seems to favor Halo 2 and Tour of Duty. Half the time he doesn't really know what he is doing - but he is getting good at controling the figures, especially in halo 2. My own duaghter tells me that it's not good for him - that "this is why he is always talking about killing Dad". I wouldn't say he talks about killing becuase of the game - more like becuase of sponge bob, tom and jerry, bugs bunny - and maybe a bit of the game. But really have you seen how Daffy Duck gets shot in the face..... The bad thing is how he wants to eat, sleep and live the game. Every waking moment of the day he wants to know when he can play the game - I think he has made an IDOl of the X-box!

Iniana Jones and the temple of Quietness

Image
Indiana Jones and the temple of Quietness I said it before I’ll say it again - I love video games. Especially if they give a bit of “Peace and Quiet” in the home. Oh, there is nothing more exciting than watching my kids play - that is, play quietly. Ofcourse since I’m a big fan of games myself - I play a little myself. And I have to say, if you want a nice clean game that will help your kids use those brain cells and enjoy themselves [ plus keep them quiet ] I suggest you get “ Lego Indiana Jones “ tribute game. This game is cool, especially if you’re a movie buff and an Indiana Jones fan. It pretty much takes you thru all three Indiana Jones movies - [ not last 4th installment ]. It’s great, you get the whip, you fight, jump, solve puzzles and ofcourse it has movie clips in Lego format. So cute. The only bad thing is, if you’re an avid player - or a junkie like me - you could easily go thru the entire game in about three days [ give or take a day - depends how good you are and

I love Video games

Image
I love video games, no really. I love videos games, I’ve always been a fan. I could play for hours and when I was a kid - it was a normal thing for me to play all night in my pursuit to save the princess, destroy the evil monster or capture the prize. There were many a sleepless nights where just me, my game console and several cups of coffee was what I had in the wee hours of the night. I once played “Zelda” for three nights and three days straight. No sleep for me, I was going to save the princess - I did by the way. So what’s my point - Do you want to know why today’s parents love game consoles, why they are willing to pay three hundred dollars or more on a simple game console. Why they do not find it a waste of money to pay $129 dollars for a DS or other hand held game… let me give you a clue: Listen, do you hear that.. The silence .......... I was wondering why the house was so quite. The spouse was taking a nap and the kids - well, not a peep. I thought they were a sleep but when

Wii to get fit or just Dangerous

I like the Wii - I’m not a die hard fan of the console but it’s cute and kind of fun. But personally - I think their kind of Dangerous. Not because of the video I posted about the wii handle cracking open someone skull when it slip out of someone’s hand in a heated game. But because in the real world - people have been getting hurt. I had a friend break a finger because he got a bit involved in his baseball swing. I had a friend tell me her father injured his back trying to bowl a perfect strike. Heck, my brother-in-law owns a wii and my son smack me in the head while he was playing that boxing game. So yes, I think the Wii is a bit dangerous. Ofcourse now the have it - or should I say promote it as a way of getting people fit [ meaning exercise ]. Well let me say this - get might get a coach potatoes off their butt - but I wouldn’t call that much of a work out.

China cares about Olympics more than death of children ???

Image
I guess China will never change. We're concerned about lead and the safety of our children. China - well, who cares if children die - lets make that green back. Well, Olympics, but then again that’s what the Olympics mean to most countries - MONEY! The Olympics is a big cash cow and that's why countries try so hard to get it - but it amazes me that this countries official is so blatantly open about his "unconcern" about these children’s plight and death - because it shouldn't effect the Olympics????? 24 Chinese Children die of Virus A common illness that typically causes little more than a fever and rash has killed 24 children in China, and health officials fear the worst may be yet to come as outbreaks occur in neighboring countries. China's Health Ministry issued a nationwide alert over the weekend after the enterovirus 71 virus, or EV-71, which causes hand, foot and mouth disease, infected more than 4,500 children in central Anhui province. Vietnam and Sing

I feel so dumb...........

I owned a Rubix cube way back in the 1980's - and i couldn't solve it then. My duaghter bought one last month and wanted my help - and I still can't solve the darn thing. I've been working on ti a littel each day for three weeks. but Ofcourse - here is a five year old french kid who can solve this darn puzzle in less than 2 minutes. I hate you little boy.... Can you solve the Rubix's cube ???

Are we Poor ???

I've been having a bad week and have been openly venting my fustration with the high cost of living [ meaning everything ]. I mean [ not to sound old ] but I remember when milk was $2.50 a gallon. When a small bag a chips cost you 25 cents and when I first moved to florida gas was $1.25 a gallon. So here I am fustrated and openly talking about the high cost of living in front of my children. I forgot that my duaghter is old enough to know what I am saying but not old enough to understand what life is all about. So on one of our trips home from school she ask a very polite question: "Are we poor???" I really felt bad about forgetting that children pick up everything you say. She brought me to tears when she offered to give up her savings to help the family out..... I love my kids... Update: Video is gone due to Revver shutting down. I wish I had put it in youtube. It's been several years since I wrote this post and after these several years of economic distress [ reces
