Parents - death of Imaginary friends

Image
Parenting: The great Imagination ! There I was watching my son play in the back yard. This boy has way to much energy for me and even a greater imagination [ gets it from me ]. There he was running to and fro with his army helmet on and a drummers stick for his weapon. Pow, Pow, shoot, shot... Spitting as he pretended to be shooting a machine gun. Ofcourse he had his imaginary enemies but most of all - he had his imaginary troops. He’d run to one side of the pool and yell go over there! Then run to another spot and scream "look out here they come!" all the while making his shooting sounds. But what was most interesting was when he some how went to save a friend [ imaginary one ] and was shot by the bad guys [ I don’t know if it’s aliens or nazis - he just calls them bad guys ]. To my surprise he had a wonderful death scene..... Yet, when he noticed my camera the theatrics came to a complete stop. It's getting harder and harder to get this kid on film [ or digital camera

Walt Disney world - Magic Kingdom

Image
Walt Disney world - Magic Kingdom Quietly planning my next family outing - shhss don’t tell the family. I’ve been working long hours and many nights - so I figure I have to plan special moments in greater detail than just letting them happen. You know how it goes you put something off till the week end and bang something always comes up. Besides - if I plan it right maybe I can control the cost better [ you save for it rather than have an expensive spur of the moment thing]. I’m thinking Walt Disney World. One night stay at a hotel and take advantage of the one get second free [ if they have it ]... I know my whole family loves fire works and Walt Disney knows how to give a impressive fire works display. I hope I can get a hotel close to Disney with a view of the park so maybe we can get a sneak peek at their “Disney Fire works extravaganza”... I understand they revamped the “it’s a small world - I took my little girl to that and hope my son will be impressed as much as she was. I also

four year old trying to get rid of me??

Image
Is it me or is my four year old trying to get rid of me?? Here I was happy to have a day off where I could hang out, do as I pleased and in fact - was happy to go and pick up my four year old son from pre-k school. But boy was I in for a surprise. I go and pick him up a half hour earlier than his scheduled time - out of love [ or because I didn’t want to waste the gas driving back and forth - you judge ] and when I signed him out early - he only had one thing to ask of me... Why are you not working??? What, did I hear you right? So I asked him, what do you mean… and he said.. What are you doing home, aren’t you working today?? Hey, come on - can’t a dad get a break… It’s my day off and I want to spend it with you. Why would you want to bring up work and are you trying to get rid of me kid??? Come on, maybe the next time I have a day off I’ll just disappear and not come home - see if you like that one buddy. Life is so strange - and kids their even stranger. Imagine that - a four year o

Life is So unfair at the beach ???

Life is So unfair at the beach ??? Oh how unfair life can be. As promised I wanted to share my trip with you. I had to go to Venice Florida for some training and my Boss was gracious enough to put me up in a beautiful condo right on the beach. He even suggested that I bring the family along so we could have a nice time of it. At first I was leery of one - taking him up on his offer - second, taking my family along for the ride. But the more I thought about being away for two days the more it sounded - ok. Ofcourse my wife loved the idea. The minute she heard that the condo was right on the beach and that the back door opens up right on to the beach - it didn’t take her long to start packing. So what’s so unfair about life and this situation: well, where do I start. Let me begin with how first it wasn’t a trip for me - I had to work, and while I woke up early and went to bed early because I had to be at work - my kids and my sweet wife enjoyed the beach [ see the pictures below and the

Embarrassing or Just Having Fun

Image
Embarrassing or Just Having Fun in the pool! Now my wife may think this is embarrassing and may be angry with me for showing this video - but I couldn’t help it. Is it wrong to share - is it wrong to video record your family having fun, enjoying themselves? I can’t help but think about how one day, all we will have is our memories of our kids growing up. What better way to preserve those memories than having actual video records of the funny event. My wife might think it’s embarrassing and yes it makes me laugh - but lets be real people... this is what you remember when you grow old. Having fun with your kids and all those funny embarrassing moments. It’s like some of the fun memories we have of our youth - ask my wife what she remembers most about some of her camping trips with her Mom and Dad and she’ll bring up the time her mother fell off the hammock… she said she wish she had captured the moment on film.. So that’s what I’ve done. Having fun in the pool !

The Monster Slide

Image
The childrens ministry at Living waters Church of God , had a "FUN" MOster water slide for thier back to school bash. they gave out a lot of food and several bookbags full of school supplies - and everyone much appriciated it- but the thrill of the day was watching Senior Pastor John N. Schnieder face the "FUN" but large Monster water slide. Some fear - but Pastor loves a challenge This Moster water slide was hard to climb but fun sliding down Pastor Schnieder - He knows this slide can take alot out of you! One point Monster Water slide - Zero points to the Pastor - The winner all of us who enjoyed the day

Cypress Garden - Parot freak my kids out

Image
I have to say, I was amazed with the electronic Lockers But my kids being animal lovers - they had a hoot in the animal display section. They especially went bonkers over the talking Parrot. see video below They also enjoyed the alligator - who was to close for comfort for me and Isaac gave us a scare when he tried to go in the Puma cage. Where does this kid get his ideas ??? see some of the other photos below.. I think Cypress Garden is a Great local "Water Park" !

A floating Dutchman in DC ??

I personally don’t believe in magic, I hold strong to the idea that it’s a trade secret full of highly secret techniques. But you have to admit that “The Floating Dutchman” has pulled of a great magic trick. Just watch the video - it’s surprising.

Growing up to fast for me

Image
You know your child is growing up when they start to do more and more things for themselves. It’s a great feeling and a relief. I remember I couldn’t wait for the potty training so we could lose the diapers. Then I couldn’t wait for him to be able to go to the bathroom on his own. Now he wants to do everything on his own - very independent little guy. He says he wants to brush his teeth, take a bath, use the bathroom, even get dressed on his own. Just one question son: “Why are you wearing your big sisters pajama shorts? Don’t grow up to fast, I’ll miss you needing me. Update: 2012 January 21 My son is now 8 years old, wow how time flies by. He is still as cute as a button and a very independent person. He has learned how to ham it up to use his cuteness to get people to do things for him. He still has the same face, big head [ all kids do ] and attitude. I love that kid.

Am I a cool or Bad Parent ???

Image
You know my kids have a cool parent, because I am a video game buff. When my daughters friends talk about Halo - Hey I am up with that. After all, I am an old-timer [ can’t believe I said that]. I was there when the first Atari video game console came out, I bought the second game console ever created “Collico”. Then came Nintendo, sega , sega genesis, super Nintendo, Playstation, X-box , the Wii and all the upgraded versions on the now current top game consoles. I feel good when my little girl says, hey lets play a game together and be it monopoly or Halo, I am up to the challenge of monopoly and the skills needed to blow away some ugly alien butt. But I find myself wondering one thing…… Is it normal to have my three year old saying “ I want to play, so I can Kill you ” ???

The Art of Jumping off buildings - parkour or freerunning

Image
Jump off a building lately? Today anything can be considered a Sport? I guess if you can say that atleast their not sitting at home growing fat and lazy while they play their X-box and watch re-runs on TV. But jumping off of buildings? Can you even really call that a sport, sounds more like training for the military or maybe training to avoid police capture…… In either case it’s an interesting thing, I know I couldn’t do it, so you know what they say “if you can’;t jump off a building, you go splat if you do….”
